Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 18, 2026

1. Who we are

SCNZ (“we”, “us”, the “service”) is an AI-powered media toolkit for video creators, accessible at scnz.digital. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

  • Account information — email address and authentication details, handled by our auth provider (Clerk).
  • Waitlist submissions — the survey information you submit at /waitlist: name, email, channel info, use case, pricing preferences.
  • Usage analytics — anonymous page views, feature interactions, error events, and approximate country from IP headers. Stored locally on our server.
  • Content you create — scripts you paste, scenes generated from your scripts, media you assign, animations you configure, videos you render.
  • Technical metadata — browser type, device type, and IP address, used for security and debugging.

3. API keys (“BYOK” model)

SCNZ uses a Bring-Your-Own-Keys model. API keys for third-party services (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Pixabay, Pexels, Unsplash, etc.) are stored only in your browser’s local storage. When you trigger an action that requires a key, your browser sends it with the request; our server uses it for that single call and does not persist it in any database or log file.

4. How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the service (sign-in, project storage, media generation).
  • To review waitlist submissions and send invitations.
  • To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns.
  • To communicate with you about the service (beta updates, feature announcements, only to consenting users).
  • To investigate security incidents and debug failures.

We do not sell your data. We do not run ad tracking.

5. Who we share data with

Third parties we share data with, and only what’s necessary:

  • Clerk (authentication) — handles your email and sign-in sessions. See their privacy policy.
  • LLM providers you choose (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or Ollama) — your script text is sent directly to whichever provider you configure, using your API key. Their privacy practices apply.
  • Stock media providers you choose (Pixabay, Pexels, Unsplash, Storyblocks, Envato) — your scene keywords are sent to whichever providers you enable, using your API keys.
  • Infrastructure providers (AWS) — hosts the service; does not access your application data under normal operation.

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any party for marketing purposes.

6. Data retention

  • Account data: retained while your account exists; deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Waitlist submissions: retained until we close the waitlist or you request deletion.
  • Analytics events: retained for 180 days, then purged.
  • Content (scripts, media, animations): retained until you delete it or close your account.
  • Backups: up to 30 days after primary deletion.

7. Your rights

You can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your content (scripts, scenes, assets, animations).
  • Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@scnz.digital. We respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items:

  • Clerk session cookies — required for sign-in.
  • Anonymous ID (localStorage) — a random UUID used to group analytics events from the same visitor before sign-in.
  • API keys (localStorage) — your BYOK keys, only readable by code running on scnz.digital.
  • Session ID (sessionStorage) — a temporary ID for analytics, cleared when you close the tab.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

9. Security

All traffic is served over HTTPS. Access to the service requires authentication. API keys live only in your browser. We keep the stack patched and monitor for unusual activity. That said, no online service is 100% secure — if you have a security concern, please email security@scnz.digital.

10. International transfers

Our servers are hosted in the United States (AWS us-east-1). If you’re based outside the US, your data is transferred to and stored in the US. Third-party providers you select (LLM and stock media providers) operate their own infrastructure which may be elsewhere.

11. Children

SCNZ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please email privacy@scnz.digital and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and update the “Last updated” date. For significant changes, we’ll email registered users.

13. Contact

Questions about this policy: privacy@scnz.digital.

This is a starter policy for a closed beta. We recommend consulting a lawyer before wider release, especially if you plan to handle data from EU, UK, or California residents at scale.
